Anthrocon is July 4-7 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and I intend to be there! You should come and see me, and also the Pittsburgh Penguins’ shiny new Stanley Cup.

Details to follow, but at this time, my plan is to hang around Chris Paulsen, as I did at Midwest Furfest. You might not remember me being there because you were too busy being interested in Chris Paulsen, but I was around.

So if you’re going to Anthrocon, let me know so I can look for you!

(Please note that the Stanley Cup probably won’t be there. The Penguins will have better things to do with it than bring it to a furry convention after they win it.)

17: A song that would sing a duet with on karaoke

It’s not a traditional duet, but when I think of songs that feature more than one vocalist, the one that immediately comes to my mind is “E-Bow the Letter” by R.E.M. with Patti Smith. As for who I’d sing it with, Lydia wouldn’t be interested, but Rain’s always up for anything. I imagine she’d be pretty flirty with it too, even though it’s not a super duper flirty song. She’d be looking at me all seductive while she sings, “I’ll take you over.”

2: A song you like with a number in the title

I didn’t really want to repeat artists too much, but it just so happens that my all-time favorite song has a number in the title, and it’s by Garbage. This is “#1 Crush.” More specifically, this is the Romeo + Juliet version of “#1 Crush”, remixed by Nellee Hooper.

“#1 Crush” is an early Garbage song that was included as a B-side on either the “Vow” or “Subhuman” singles, or as a bonus track on the Garbage album proper, depending on where in the world you live. The original version is hard to find, though it is on YouTube, and I think it might even be the better version of the song. The Romeo + Juliet version, however, was perhaps Garbage’s greatest chart success to date, despite never being released as an actual single, and was even included on Garbage’s greatest hits album, Absolute Garbage. It is now readily available on iTunes.

1: A song you like with a color in the title

I never really realized how few songs I own that have colors in the title. Oh well! This one is called “Blue Orchid” by the White Stripes, and it was the lead single from their album Get Behind Me Satan. So it’s likely you’ve heard it before. Still a good song.

This is called “Eat Raw Meat = Blood Drool” by Editors, from their 2009 album In This Light and on This Evening, and I’ve basically done nothing but listen to it since I first became aware of it in 2010.

I’m posting the song here because the audio quality is better, but it also has a video which demands to be watched.
